About

Katie Farringer
Artist/Painter
For all of my life, I have been creative.
Be it painting, acting, writing, or constantly curating my living space, I have always sought to find expression for my creative instinct.
During my years as a graphic design student at Stellenbosch University, I worked in various media, including photography, print-making and drawing, but my first love has always been oils and acrylics.
Since then, like most working mothers, my time has been divided between family, business and children, and whilst this may have precluded painting full-time, my passion for painting has nonetheless been a source of therapy and solace amidst the stresses of life.
During my earlier years as a painter, I explored abstract subjects, but this has evolved into an embrace of realism. My current series explores the interplay of water on the human form, and capturing this energy and light on the canvas. I am now looking to take this into a new direction, with an in-depth study of light, flight and weightlessness, and the endless possibilities of the sky.
